Schonell 77 is located right in the middle of St Lucia, one of Brisbane’s loveliest suburbs.
There’s no doubt, the biggest drawcard of Schonell 77 is our proximity to UQ – we’re just 850 metres away!
In fact, our Munro Street student accommodation is just across the road!
That means getting to class and back is a simple matter of walking, or catching a quick bus from your front door if you need to.
We’re only a few kilometres away from the vibrant city of Brisbane as well. Our capital has plenty of great attractions, including the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), the Wheel of Brisbane ferris wheel and the beautiful Southbank Parklands with its free swimming pools and barbeques.

What’s in St Lucia?

St Lucia is a beautiful, well-established neighbourhood 6 kilometres from the heart of Brisbane.
It’s also the home of University of Queensland, which is a whole world in itself! Our students who attend UQ love the on-site facilities and community spirit.
St Lucia has lovely river-frontage, plenty of eating options, a local supermarket as well as general amenities such as hairdressers and pharmacies, all nearby.

Getting around St Lucia and Brisbane Transport options

St Lucia has many easy public transport options available, including bus, ferry and train. Australia offers concession fares to students to make travel more affordable.
The Translink website has a journey planner where you can easily work out the fastest way to get to your destination, and we’re always happy to assist as well.

Public Transport

Go card

To use public transport, you can purchase a Translink Go Card. Go Card’s are tapped when you hop on board, and can be topped up online or at public transport stations.

Free public transport

Brisbane also offers lots of free public transport options, including a free City Hopper ferry and free City Loop buses in the city centre. They run at regular intervals between certain stops and are a great option for getting to the city and back for free.

CityCat/Ferry services

The City Cats and ferry services are a fantastic way to avoid traffic and quickly hop around the Brisbane area. The UQ terminals are the first on the route, which winds its way through Brisbane city. The Guyatt Ferry Terminal is just a few minutes’ walk from home.

Schonell 77 has a bus stop 50 metres from the front door (Stop 19). From there, you can hop onto the Route 412 bus to get to Toowong Village shopping centre, Brisbane city and Southbank. Buses run continuously through St Lucia and its surrounding neighbourhoods.

Bicycles are a great way to zip around the neighbourhood, and we do provide storage spaces for bicycles on our premises. If you need to hire a bicycle, you can grab one from one of Brisbane’s CityCycle rental terminals. You can pick one up at nearby Guyatt Park and return it to any terminal in Brisbane.

We are located 25 minutes’ drive from Brisbane’s International and Domestic Airport. Airport transfers run 24 hours a day, or we can help you organise your travel between the airport and our accommodation. The Brisbane-to-Gold Coast train will take you to our nearby train station at Toowong in about 20 minutes.
